“He made the wheels of their chariots come off so that they could hardly move. Then the Egyptians shouted, “Let’s get out of here! The Lord is fighting for Israel! He’s against us!” Exodus 14:25
Do we really believe the Lord is fighting for us? Let me re-phrase that question: Are we allowing the Lord to fight for us?
As I see it, there are a couple of things that will keep the Lord from fighting for us. Let me unpack them for you.
Unbelief
The first is unbelief. This sin–this state of mind and heart–puts a stop-gap on the grace of God that is ever present to save us.
Matthew 13:38 says “And he did not do many mighty works there, because of their unbelief.”
Think about that for a minute. Jesus, the Lord of heaven, operated with limitations in Nazareth because of the unbelief of the people around him. Was it because he couldn’t do more? Or was it because he wouldn’t do more? Does it really matter? The passage is clear: because of the unbelief of the people, less was accomplished. The lesson we need to carry forward here is BELIEVE. Believe and you shall receive!
Idolatry
The second is idolatry.
Jonah 2:8 says “Those who worship worthless idols forfeit the mercy that could be theirs.” (NET) It is also translated “Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them.” (NIV)
If we delegate our deliverance to an idol, God will back off from the battle and let us implode in our ignorance. He will patiently wait for us to come to an end of ourselves and crawl back to him. Jonah understood this. He has to come to the end of himself before he could see God’s deliverance. It had to happen in him before it could happen for Nineveh.
I believe God want to bring revival to our land. I believe what God started in 2016 can and should continue in 2020. I am speaking of the election on November 3rd. As far as I can see, there are two doors for America: revival and judgment. Through which one will we enter?
Political correctness demands that we re-define our faith and devotion first by re-defining our language. This is an ancient tactic. The serpent said to Eve “Did God really say that?” Pseudo-Christian cults have classically rolled out revised definitions of Christian terminologies in order to deceive unwitting converts. This is happening across our society right now. Cultism has hit the political and cultural mainstream in America.
I have reminded people every chance I get that “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens.” We should be loving people but resisting the idolatrous strongholds that drive the movements that seek to stop God’s work on the earth.
As God’s people, we need to rise up in faith and cast off the idol of political correctness, which is the dominating spirit of our age.
If we do, I believe God will fight for us.
